Recover Lost Data in 3 Steps
If you lost all your data with an external harddrive because of something crash or corrupted disk, you must know ways to get it back. Here's the best way to do just that on a Windows computer.
If you just lost all your private data and data due to a process failure by using an external hard disk drive, you are probably asking yourself a slew of questions like "Is this real life?", and "Why is happening to me?". Fear not; all hope is way from lost! There is actually a lot that can be done to obtain that information back, but first we should instead understand what exactly happened to begin with.
When a harddrive crashes or becomes corrupt, it can mean numerous things. First and foremost, we all know that your particular data continues to be seemingly erased from existence, to never be observed or heard from again. This, thankfully, isn't the case. Hard drives aren't truly "erased" (although you may format them) until more data is written onto them following your format takes place. The same, essentially, relates to corruption and accidental crashes. Sure, it's kind of more complicated than this description, nevertheless, you should have a decent concept of how the whole thing works.
So how will you understand this "ghost data" back? Is Seagate external hard disk file recovery even possible?
If you're looking over this while simultaneously trying out your Seagate external harddrive, trying to fix something or look for your files, you have to stop, drop it, and retreat from the computer. Except don't actually drop it, if you already did, I cannot be held in charge of damages.
All kidding aside, seriously stop messing by using it -- remember what I said within the first paragraph about how a data could always be on your own hard disk so long as you haven't written anything over it or ruined it in one other way? That's why you should stop -- should you accidentally hit an unacceptable switch or click the wrong button, you can ruin the complete process!
If you fear you already ruined something, I'd still recommend following this guide. You could always surprise yourself!
After you've gently set your Seagate hard drive down on the stable surface, you will want to properly disconnect it in the computer you were deploying it on (just in case the matter was your computer specifically) after which reconnect it to another computer like a slave drive, granted most external hard disk drives can't be used as primary drives without sufficient computer knowledge/workarounds. I'd also recommend managing a check into the initial computer using Ad-Aware or Malwarebytes to make sure that a bug didn't find its way into your personal machine and result in the hard disk drive to fail to start with!
This is the place things will go off in a number of directions. You see, the next phase requires you to have personal files recovery program like REMO Recover in order to have those files back, quite a few you most likely have different file recovery programs already installed. Unfortunately, I can only cover the way to use one of these, so I'll keep with the free program "PC Inspector" and direct you depending on that. The steps mustn't be too different for several programs though.
- Download PC Inspector (link in the references after this informative guide).
- Run the installer and commence the program.
- With PC Inspector, you'll need to choose the type of recovery you should do. If you accidentally deleted some files, pick the "Recover Deleted Files" option. If you can't access files over a drive as it became corrupted, select "Find Lost Files." If you can't even access the drive itself, select "Find Lost Drive". Between these three recovery options you should be able to obtain back any files you lost in any way.
- Select the drive you want to recoup data from, or perhaps the partition you want to recoup data from, and click on the green check mark to start the scan. Note that should you are recovering files, you'll want to pick a place to save them around the internal hard disk drive with the computer you use to own the scan.
- After the process of recovery is complete, if it succeeded, you may well be capable of re-copy the files to the external harddrive. It's recommended that (assuming you've got all you need) you format the drive first to remove corrupted data, and after that proceed with all the re-installation of files.
After you complete this, if things went well, you're totally and completely done with your Seagate external hard disk drive data recovery! You've got your files back, you hopefully didn't lose anything, and you will return on the right track to have all those computer-related tasks finished with ease and comfort. If the scan and process of recovery failed to work, post a comment about the exact situation and I'll determine if I can help. Chances are you're doomed, but it may't hurt to use!
