Recover Lost Data in 3 Steps
Today I opened a document in Microsoft Word (a book review that I was poised to share, barring the odd alteration to some sentence or two) so when wanting to modify this document the screen went blank. I suppose the right thing to own done at this point was to head to edit>undo but I didn't.
I was frankly mystified; I'd already suffered a shock last week-end when my lap top suddenly refused to reply and I stood a rather depressing 24 hours of interest until an associate here had diagnosed a problem with the battery. Relief!
In these twenty four hours, it provided the opportunity think on simply how much we have a tendency to count on our little machines. Just over last year, my old PC caught the herpes virus and also the same thing occurred, suddenly. I lost, not only some precious writings but my emails, passwords and stuff I can't (or shouldn't) re-call.
It brought back the identical memories: It was like having brain surgery the place where a large part of my existence have been removed and I had a similar situation last weekend, albeit for one day roughly, zombie state.
I do usually back-up things by using an external H/D but I must admit I'm a little lax for this. Luckily at that time, a few of my old emails were stored over a greetings card site so I was very grateful to the a minimum of.
So to this morning. I opened the document, composed of some 1000 words or thereabouts so that as soon as I attemptedto then add words the screen went blank, immediately, no warning, no: "Are you sure you need to ditch this few hours of one's creativity?"
No - nothing, zilch.
Then I tried system restore, which I may not go anywhere near and still have it disabled (eventhough it seemed to possess re-abled itself today on it's own - curious?) Negative result anyway.
So, I searched and I searched, with the usual channels and I may find this 19.5 kb file easily however with exactly the same result - blank page.
Now obviously it needs to be somewhere on my own hard disk but where? I even checked the re-cycle bin just in case, however, no.
I spent hours on the net, trawling from the Microsoft (soft in the head?) "support" which. as usual had me going round and round and rou....what?? Oh, yes!
Sorry about this, just nodded off, the thing is that.
I even down-loaded a recovery programme and, obviously, re-cycled that right away.
Point is, I'm a bit nervous now about writing any articles, whether they can just disappear in smoke before my eyes. I always save, save, save as I'm writing but about this occasion, I'm writing direct onto Street Articles equally as a precaution and will opt to save any future stuff as a draft; at least that way, I know it's around somewhere.
I'd advise someone else to perform the same task.
Meanwhile, if any one of you everyone has a prospective answer to this bizarre problem, perhaps you could make me aware, so I can avoid it later on.
Many thanks.
